講師簡介：

加拿大喬治布朗管理學院畢業，現任新澤西州台灣華語文中心老師。投入紐約與新澤西華語文教育逾15年，其中包括校務管理，高年級教學與創辦多個青少年義工團體。曾指導主流高中演講辯論社，亦專業執教中文AP課程與培訓美籍台裔與非華裔青少年中、英文公開演說。全美與新澤西州主流高中演講及辯論聯賽評審 NSDL， NCFL，NJSDL，CFL speech and debate tournament judge。目前亦為ACS美東中文學校協會理事、新澤西州FASCA諮詢導師。從2007年至今，林老師執教與培訓的學生參賽各類才藝競賽人數逾百，並獲得傑出的肯定。她亦將其攝影、文字報導、紀錄片製作、記實記事、主持等經驗，融於深入淺出，與時並進的華語文教學課程中。

課程提綱:

• 定位時下的公開演說形式，方可提供美籍華裔學生正確的培訓需求。
• 學習公開演說的終極目標所為何來？
• 千里之行始於師生親的團隊合作。
• 個人演講比賽與多媒體簡報競賽的相同和不同之處。
• 如何準備比賽～主題與內容，技巧與執行，台風與儀態，自然與自信。
• 他山之石可以為錯～模仿精湛的演說並改進自己的缺失。
• 千錘百鍊，溫故知新，去蕪存菁，只進行有效率的練習。
• 在比賽現場如何面對突發狀況並化危機為轉機？
• 賽後修正與展望，下一站（戰）會更好。

課程內容

• 美籍華裔學生的學校和日常生活與表演方式必須契合。培訓學生以40年前，傳統的台灣演講方式參賽，是切割學生今後參與各項演說最鋒利的一把刀。「善刀而藏」意味過時之物，適可而止。

• 凡走過必留下；含淚學習的，必歡呼收穫。練習過程中豐收友情、知識、親情與自信，學生與家庭，終生受用。

• 指導老師～Coach是教導學生公開演說的靈魂人物，家長承擔著「成也蕭何，敗也蕭何」的關鍵角色，然而學生卻是團隊中，唯一需要上台演出，獨自面對賽果的一員。所謂「初生之犢不畏虎」，零基礎的學生最容易被教導，家長的配合度也最高；所以一個比賽的完成是師生親的共同成就，而榮譽則應盡歸於學生。演講是original oratory 原創講稿；多媒體簡報是informative speaking 訊息分享。

• 兩者之間對於主題發揮、撰稿內容、表演方式、表演人數的相同與不同處，有「殊途同歸」亦有「大相逕庭」的準備過程。毋慌亂也毋須懼怕，因為：舜何人予何人？有為者亦若是！

• 長達數月的準備與練習過程中，如何做到「事半功倍」而不是「人仰馬翻」？「立竿見影」而非「徒勞無功」？智慧、毅力與勇氣缺一不可。效率與效果是把雙刃刀，手起刀落之間如何合理運用「雙效」，達到有利無弊的「雙贏」，至為關鍵。

• 主辦單位合理的規則制定與評審的專業素養，亦是決定賽果的要因。陪伴學生參賽應以『但求無愧己心，豈能善盡人意？』的態度來面對輸贏。只要團隊肯繼續前行，不斷的捲土重來，終有『守得雲開見月明』的一日。因為參賽即得獎，而獲得名次就是bonus。學生學到的都是自己的，別人拿不走。

• 賽後檢討是和自己比還是和第一名比？美國隊在世界杯足球賽後，當然是向「阿根廷」學習，以奪冠2026「美加墨世界杯」為終極目標，而不應以每次「有進步」即可來劃地自限，learning form the best！

Michigan Chinese Educators Association (MCEA) is offering a Chinese Folk Arts Summer Camp in Northville, Michigan. The camp will run from August 14th to August 18th, Monday to Friday from 9AM to 4PM.  Students ages Kindergarten – 8th grader in school year 2023-2024 are welcome to participate. No Chinese language skill is required.

The program includes Chinese Yoyo, Shadow Play (Chinese Puppet Show), Martial Arts, Dough Figurines (Chinese Play-Doh), Chinese Percussion Instruments, Chinese Dance, Calligraphy, Chinese Knotting, Paper Cutting (The program might have small changes without notice)

Registration is now open, limited space available.  
(please see the attached camp registration form). We are also now accepting applications for teenage camp counselor volunteers (please see attached counselor application form).

College Application Workshop (1/28/23 3:30-5:00pm at Senior Classroom) 
Irina Chen (陳思憫) is an Ann Arbor Chinese School alum and currently the Assistant Director of a college counseling company. She has helped students get admitted to schools such as Yale, Columbia, Stanford, and MIT and has worked with over 30 Former Admissions Officers (people who have read, accepted, rejected, and waitlisted students at the admissions table). She will be conducting a presentation titled “10 Tips for College Applications”. Irina is currently working with several Michigan-based students in the 9-12th grades to strengthen their college application profile and this presentation will be great for anyone who is interested in learning more.

線上演講比賽訓練研習會 (Sunday 1/29/23 11:00am-12:00pm) 
安娜堡中文學校今年承辦 2023 校際演講比賽，將在一月底與二月份舉辦兩場線上的演講比賽訓練研習會。預定由周延玲老師以及劉玉錦老師兩位資深演講比賽的指導老師來負責此次線上訓練研習及說明事宜。 此外，葉育婷和周玉若兩位老師也願意以類似模式，合辦一場為 CFL 學生所準備的講座 (Group 9-11)。
此次研習會歡迎各校學生，家長以及老師們一起參加，增進觀摩與交流。另外，在研習會的前 10 分鐘亦會有校際演講比賽規則的初稿說明，希望能給予學生及家長們對校際比賽有初步的認識。比賽規則的最後定案將以各參賽學校的校長會議的最終定稿為準。
目前的第一場次日期是訂在星期日， 1/29/23，早上11點至中午 12 點，由周延玲老師主講。

Michigan Taiwanese American Organization Event (1/22/23 1:00-4:00pm

) 
We are collaborating with Detroit RiverFront Conservancy again to celebrate this year’s Lunar New Year! Chinese school Students will perform the very popular Lion Dance, Dragon Parade, and Dragon Dance. And, MITAI volunteers will have several tables of Taiwan cultural displays and interactions. For example, you will get to have your name written in Chinese or you can take a cute zodiac lantern home if you come early!

今年我們再次與 Detroit RiverFront Conservancy 合作慶祝農曆新年！ 來自幾所中文學校的學生們將表演非常受歡迎的舞獅、舞龍和遊行，MITAI的義工們也會準備幾桌台灣文化的展示與互動，例如可以在紅包上寫自己的中文名字或請義工們翻譯，來得早的話還可以帶個可愛的生肖燈籠或天燈回家！

Special Reminders for CNY Celebration:  

1. Please be noted with the rehearsal schedule in the chart below and be there by the stage at least 5 minutes before your scheduled time.
    Rehearsal must be finished by 1:40 PM. If you are setting marks on the stage, please use painters tape as it’s easier to be removed and would not cause any damage 

after the event.
2. There are 60+ prizes of total value about $1,500 for raffle drawing, including goods, gift cards, and cash!
    Please see reception desk or vending students in the field for additional raffle ticket purchase! Wish you all win big prizes for a lucky new year!

Free Lanterns and Calendars

We received lanterns and calendars from Overseas Community Affairs Council of Taiwan (中華民國僑委會). Please come see me at the area outside of the classroom area if you would like to pick one up. Quantities are limited, they will be given out on a first come first serve basis.

Weekly Food/Item Sale for Donations to MCS 
We are starting a food/item sale each week during school hours. Earnings of all sales will be donated to MCS. The sale will be located at the hallway outside the classroom area. The following are the food/items we will be selling this Saturday. If you are interested in selling food/items for donation to MCS, please let me know. Please note that you or someone you designated will be responsible for selling your food/item.

Multicultural Festival at Waterford Montessori School (1/27/23 6-8pm) 
The International Adviser for International Students and Scholars at Oakland University, Petra Knoche, is seeking volunteers who would be interested in participating and sharing their culture with the community for the Multicultural Festival event at Waterford Montessori School. They are looking for performers or anyone who would be willing to have a display table. Service hour would be given for the participation. Please let me know if you are interested.

台北市政府「台北酷課雲」辦理寒假外語線上直播講座「2023年酷課外語村X雲之國度-環遊世界冬令營」，歡迎海外臺灣學校及僑校學生踴躍報名參加。

台北酷課雲於112年寒假期間辦理，提供線上外語學習資源，豐富學生多樣化外語「聽、說、讀、寫」學習機會，厚植學生外語能力!

該計畫課程資訊:
(一)   自111年12月27日(星期二)至112年1月10日(星期二)中午12時進行報名，將依電腦隨機抽籤錄取學生名單。
(二)   課程費用：學員無須繳納任何課程費用(除授課教師請學生自行購買教材外)。
(三)   辦理期程：自112年2月2日(星期四)至112年2月10日(星期五)止，每門每1日開設1堂課，皆開設5天。

Thank you so much for all of the parents involved in our annual food sale last week to make our event a great success!  We have net earnings of $1,070 as a result of great teamwork and family support, for which I am truly grateful! This Saturday will also be our last class of 2022 as we head into the holiday break (no class on 12/24/21 & 12/31/22) and I would like to wish everyone a safe/merry holiday season.

School Calendar Update

Our school calendar has been updated due to the school closure last Saturday (12/3). MCS will be open for classes on 5/20 (originally a no school day) to make up for 12/3. MCS Annual Bakery Sale Map (Pre-order pick-up only, no onsite bakery sale)

Your pre-order foods can be picked up at the pick-up station (see map below for location) this Saturday. Orders can only be picked up with an order list, so please make sure you pick you your order list at the check-in location (see map below) before picking up your foods.

元旦升旗典禮報名

密西根僑學界中華民國112年元旦升旗典禮，
敬邀密西根僑胞踴躍參加，共襄盛舉。
時間:2023年1月1日(星期天)10:30 am
地點: 約翰遜育樂活動中心
          U of D Jesuit Johnson Recreation Center (8550 Chippewa Ave. Detroit, MI 48221)
今年的升旗典禮選在位於底特律的約翰遜育樂活動中心(U of D Jesuit Johnson Recreation Center)舉行。此活動中心於2022年七月全新翻修完工，設有可以容納上百輛車的保全停車場，便利來賓停車。
活動當天的升旗典禮將在室外舉行，室內則提供咖啡茶點，來賓可以一邊與親友新年茶敘，一邊觀賞精采的表演。表演包括難得同時登場的舞龍舞獅表演，飛龍呈祥，祥獅獻瑞，帶給現場觀眾新年的平安與吉祥。還有可愛的兒童合唱團、FASCA學員的勁歌熱舞，以及充滿活力的帶動健康操。
特別一提的是，今年主辦單位準備了限量的開運福袋贈送給大家，希望在新年的第一天贏得好彩頭!歡迎闔府光臨，和我們一起迎接美好的新年。

Michigan Lion Dance and MCS are teaming up in participating the Brilliant Detroit Holiday Fun Drive. Please see attached flyer for more information. We are collecting donations on 11/12, 11/19, and 12/10. Please bring your donations and drop them off in the boxes at the hallway outside the classroom area.舞獅隊應邀參加Brillant Detroit 的衣物、玩具、美勞用品捐贈活動， 請11/12, 11/19, 12/10（Sat）將捐出的物品帶來密西根中文學校，交給行政長Jean, 美術長Camille準備的紙箱，12/3 隊員再一起分裝打包完成，當天送給底特律低收入戶的孩子們，讓年幼的孩童穿戴暖和，有個溫暖的寒冬及快樂的聖誕節。

Chinese New Year Planning (Nov 19, 2022)

Our Chairperson of Parent Representatives, Jasmine Hsu, will host the 2nd meeting for the Chinese New Year Celebration planning. All Parent Representatives and selective staff members please plan to join the meeting at 1:45pm in the sitting area by the cafe. Jasmine sent out an invitation email on Wednesday, 11/16. Please join the meeting if you are invited.

主講人介紹:
蕭老師有15年的AP中文教學經驗, 目前在大底特律地區三所中文學校擔任AP 中文與文化教師。 蕭老師也擔任過Bloomfield Hills International Academy及大底特律區外語教育機構中文教師。 蕭老師也曾經為密西根地區的社區學院設計和開設中文課程。

Free Chinese Reading Book Exchange (outside of the classroom area)

• Program guideline:
  • Honor system based so no reservation needed or rental record tracking
  • Exchange/Borrowing is for one class week (i.e., pick up on Saturday class and return on the next Saturday class)
  • Donation of Chinese reading books are greatly appreciated
