Michigan Chinese School will be hosting the 40th Annual Michigan Regional Chinese Schools Speech, Story-telling, and CFL Recitation Contest on 4/27/2024. Students from the four Chinese schools in Michigan will be participating in the contest, and It will be a very interesting and competitive speech contest among contestants. 4/27 is also considered a school day, like the Speech Contest on 3/16. Students who do not participate in the inter-school speech contest must sign-in at school between 9:30am and 9:50am, and then follow the staff to Venue A or Venue B to watch the presentations. Since other Chinese schools only held their contest last week, we received the list of contestants from each school this week, and our speech contest team is still arranging the participating groups and judges. This Saturday at 7pm, the speech contest team will work with the principals of each school to arrange the order of the contestants. Joyce will send the inter-school speech competition schedule to our participating students and parents next week, please pay attention to your email.
I believe you have noticed that a parent has initiated a plan to revise the School’s Policy and Procedure handbook and collect signatures from parents to exercise the rights to submit the proposal to the board of directors for review. The concern and suggestions from enthusiastic parents at the school are absolutely understandable and appreciated. I would like to encourage everyone to read the School’s Policy and Procedure handbook and understand the content to be modified before signing. If you have any question, feel free to reach out to me or the parent, Jasmine Ku.

The 2024 School Speech Contest is finally over and I am glad that all participants performed very well! I hope the students can continue their efforts and achieve good results in the upcoming 2024 Inter-School Speech Contest, which will be held on April 27. The Speech Contest team will announce the Inter-school Speech Contest rules and registration in the coming weeks.
Due to Easter Egg Hunt activity at Ward Church, school will start at 2pm and ends at 4pm.
Ward Church has informed me about students running and screaming at the hallway, either before class or after class hour. This will disturb other visitors or renters at Ward Church. I urge parents who are at school to monitor the students’ behavior in the hallway. I will be on site together with the discipline officer to monitor the hallway. If there are students running and screaming in the hallway, I have no choice but to have them stay in the classroom until the class is over. Besides that, please make sure the classroom is clean after school. The custodial staff has a short turnaround time to get the classes ready for Sunday’s event, so please do not leave anything behind the classroom after school.
